Artist Statements

Selena 

My art work is an exaggerated piece. It was after a late singer named Selena Quintanilla. Most visible elements are color and shape. The title is Selena.

I created my art with paper. I used color pencils and sketches to draw out my piece.

It was inspired by Justin BUA. His art work is full of exaggerating pieces. My artwork expresses no social or emotional issue. 

My goal was to see how I could make and exaggerated piece that did not have to be perfect. 

Butterfly Rose

My artwork looks like the outside of a field. The subject in matter is a rose and butterfly. My title is Butterfly Rose. Elements included are color texture and shape. I wanted my principles to have emphasis through my layers.

 

I used leather scraps, fabric, construction paper a hot glue gun and some scissors. I used leather scraps to create a rose. I created my grass by using green leather scraps. My clouds were from white construction paper. 

What inspired me to create my piece was my love for butterflies. My work does not represent a social issue. I wanted to create something pretty without sadness. I tried to add color into my butterfly because I do not like sad emotions in art.

My goal was to see how creative I could be on my own. I have never done a project like this before. It helped me reach my goal because I would
